How astonishing to see that some economic pundits are actually acknowledging the fact that our paper money used to be convertible to gold and silver. This interview of Ron Paul is even more amazing because it ends with an overt recognition that the current Federal Reserve System is unconstitutional.

The collapse of paper money backed by nothing is inevitable. Does it have to end in chaos and calamity? Not really. But only if we end the legal tender laws that mandate economic interaction with private fiat money subject to unchecked inflation.

Ron Paul on Morning Joe Discussing the "Keynesian Death Spiral" Befuddles Economic Pundits

Ron Paul's message of economic liberty based upon the Austrian school is evidently too simple for the pundits on MSNBC's Morning Joe TV program:

Watching this video, it occurs to me that those who hold a Keynesian view of economics are like immature little children unaware that their actions have consequences.

In response to Ron Paul's rational, adult perspective on the economic crisis, towards the end, you can hear Mika (Zbignew's daughter) saying:

"I'm just not sure we are ready to accept that."

Little children do not often "want" to accept the consequences for their actions, but responsible parents make sure that they understand the link between cause and effect. If not, they grow up to be adults with an irresponsible child's lack of understanding of the world and how it works.

How many of you wish to behave as responsible adults rather than spoiled little children? Responsibility brings freedom. Based on what they say, most political and economic pundits secretly live in the basement of their parents' home, fearing the freedom that would certainly break out should this Keynesian death spiral come to its inevitable conclusion.

Watch it as many times as it takes to understand the argument of the mainstream media pundits. It is not one of countering Dr. Paul's perspective on the merits, but rather an unwillingness to face the consequences of improper action.

Putting your fingers in your ears and stomping your feet has never been an effective method for thwarting the physics of karma. It does not work for your children, so it should not work for highly-paid talking heads in television news.

The irony is that until we become as little children, we may never see that the emperor has always been naked.

Ron Paul has always been right about this economy, it's just that he was one of the first to point out that the followers of Keynesian economics have never worn any clothes. Eyes are opening, but if you look to the mainstream media for leadership, you will behave as the proverbial lemming and follow them right off the economic cliff.

What of the new president? Obama may be a "nice guy" but, thus far, there is no indication that he understands the true nature of the economic problem either. If he thinks that government can solve that which government facilitated, he is merely appealing to the foot stomping, ear-hole plugging masses who wish to stay in their parents' basement.

When kids persist with such antics, eventually parents must lock the door and ignore them until they tire of such childish behavior. If we are to restore soundness to our economy and this republic, the same must be done with those in Big Government and Big Media.

George L. Bell, my father, December 3, 1937 - January 22, 2009, in memoriam...

Some of you may be wondering why it's been a bit quiet around the Robert Scott Bell Blog this week.

The inevitability of the circle of life has brought my dad to the end of his cycle of life.

My father passed away on Thursday, January 22, 2009 around 1:30 AM EST. I am saddened by my loss and for my children who miss their Grandpa George. Also for my sister and her children and my father's sister. He was well loved by many as he brightened every room he entered with laughter and a childlike view of the world that could not be diminished.

He is a true "free spirit" who could not be tethered to any one place for too long. When it became apparent that his physical body would no longer cooperate with his need to float through life freely, he knew it was time to go.

It is sad for those left behind, but I take solace in the fact that he is in a better place floating freely, spreading laughter, as he did so well on planet earth.

What have we learned since the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor? If it's that "we are victims no matter what we do or do not do," then go back to Pampers. If, however, you understand that what you do matters and you conduct yourself accordingly, do not sit idly by while Democrats and Republicans re-interpret the Constitution to establish a socialist or fascist state for the rule of "necessity."

Since the rule of necessity has no law, our government is in anarchy. They have no lawful authority in ignoring Benjamin Franklin's prophetic warning:

What hath you wrought? "A republic, if you can keep it."

Expensive Drugs Expanding Market for Dietary Supplements in Deficient Economy

Headline: Weak Economy Has Many Skipping Doctors, Turning to Herbal Supplements "Whole Foods Market Inc. says its stores nationwide have seen an increase in sales of nutritional supplements and herbal products in the past several weeks."

The complaint used to be that dietary supplements were too expensive. But that was when health consumers were shielded from the true cost of pharmaceutical dependence by 3rd party payers (semi-private and government insurance). Now that jobs and health insurance coverage are being lost, the real economic costs of disease management vs. health care are being revealed.

Could the natural products industry be set to explode by default? When the people can't afford drugs, turning to dietary supplements is the next logical progression. Unless, of course, you believe that the answer is cheaper drugs from Mexico and Canada. I don't care how cheap you can find them, diabetes drugs, for instance, can NEVER reverse diabetes. GTF Chromium, however, a dietary food supplement CAN reverse diabetes for pennies on the dollar. Just don't ask the manufacturer to admit it. For the sake of their survival in our pharmaceutical tyranny, they will rightly disavow any knowledge of it.

Where do we go from here? The return of Hillary-care under Obama is the only way that the pharmaceutical industrial complex can maintain its monopoly stranglehold on nearly 15% of the U.S. GDP. Note to my Democratic friends:

"It is not to help the poor, but to enrich the elites."

Why do you think that environmental groups are petitioning the EPA to ban colloidal silver? To save the environment? Are you on "earth-muffin" drugs? Any tool that can increase the health sovereignty of the individual will come under increasing attack as the current medical-social order decays. It is decaying precisely because of the Federal Reserve-engineered economic collapse.

"The doctors are so much higher (in cost), the insurance isn't paying as much..."

Yeah, that's the superficial symptom, but the cure is most definitely NOT Socialized Medicine. What, dare say, could it be? Freedom. Sadly, this is something for which millions of Americans apparently no longer have the stomach.

I wonder if socialized medical mandates will include gastroenterologist intervention for anyone duped into believing that nutrition can prevent and reverse disease (and that drugs cannot). They already propose surgical removal of stomach parts for obese diabetic children, so how much more ludicrous and barbaric can it get? I am not sure that I want to know.

Paul Revere, where are you? The FDA is coming! The FDA is coming! Do you think that Barack Obama has a clue?

With the economy tanking, will you cower in fear and beg for a handout or stand up to the artificial creations of the state, including the bureaucratic oligarchy that stifles healing innovation and freedom? The people of the three branches of government have precipitated and continue to allow the health care (disease management) crisis to flourish. Should we look to them to solve the very problems they create?

I have a dream. A dream that Barack Obama recognizes that it is government that poses the biggest obstacle to health freedom and subsequently calls for an end to the reign of the bureaucratic oligarchy known as FDA.

After all, dreams are free; government handouts are not.

Economic Quakes, Medical Quacks & the FDA is Not Fit for a Dog

Bisphosphonates: The New Jawbreakers for Adults

Headline: Osteoporosis Drug Prompts Increase in Certain Bone Cells "Use of bisphosphonates has been associated with other problems in the past, including an increased risk of atrial fibrillation (a type of abnormal heart rhythm), unusual fractures of the thigh bone and inflammatory eye disease."

I have been warning Sally Field about this but she must have the cotton balls from the numerous Boniva pill bottles she is peddling stuffed in her ears.

What pharmaceutical drugheads fail to realize is that in nature, everything has a purpose. Just because a drug can stop normal cellular bone breakdown from occurring does not mean that it is a good idea.

Rather that stopping needed cellular breakdown, scientists should study and try to understand why new bone cells are not being created appropriately in osteoporosis sufferers. Since there is no drug that can promote legitimate and healthy bone growth, don't look for such a study to appear anytime soon.

The FDA and FTC would swoop down upon them like a rain of fire, insisting that they need an NDA which, in all likelihood, would cost them hundreds of millions of dollars.

This is what you call a free market for medicine in America?

It was not long ago that the cherry growers told the truth about their agricultural product, cherries, that could actually reverse the pain and inflammation of gout. What did it get them? An FDA Warning Letter telling them to cease and desist the marketing of an unapproved new drug. I wonder if that applies to the artificial cherry flavoring in the toxic cough drops and children's antibiotics for which the FDA has given approval?

So Grape Seed Extract promotes apoptosis while bringing no harm to healthy cells? How long until FDA bans it as an unapproved new drug? There is no War on Cancer, only your freedom to heal from it.

The next time you visit a vineyard, be careful not to trip over any FDA agents making sure that there are no signs in the dirt promoting grape seeds as a cure for anything, including the cancer that FDA has become.

Emergency Alert: Stop EPA From Further Regulating Colloidal Silver as a "Pesticide" (thanks to S. Spencer Jones)

We have only until January 20th to submit comments to the EPA against the proposal by radical environmental groups that want the EPA to immediately begin regulating nanosilver (read: colloidal silver) as a "pesticide" -- an action that would completely take colloidal silver off the market at some point in time.

Apparently, radical environmental groups and fake "consumer advocate" groups have joined hands to accellerate the ongoing campaign to have the EPA regulate all commercial forms of nanosilver, including colloidal silver, as a "new pesticide."

We received today an email from our good friend George Foss, a top nutritional supplement formulator and natural health watchdog, explaining that the Center for Food Safety (an elitist, pro-regulatory group masquerading as a "consumer advocacy" group) is now urging their readers to send comments to the EPA supporting the "Petition for Rulemaking Requesting EPA Regulate Nanoscale Silver Products as Pesticides.”

This petition -- if accepted and acted upon by the EPA -- would essentially allow the EPA to regulate colloidal silver into oblivion, on the grounds that it could potentially cause harm to the environment. (See more on this issue below.)

Public Comments Soon to Be Closed

(Update: The Public Commentary period has been extended to March 20, 2009)

We also learned that public comments on this petition have been open for some time. But apparently only the rabid environmental groups and fake "consumer advocate" groups supporting the proposal have been told about the comment period, which ends January 20th. These pro-regulatory groups have been sending emails to their thousands of readers, urging them to go to a special web page they have set up where an automated system exists for submitting comments to the EPA en masse.

Unfortunately, this comment submission system only allows for comments from people who favor futher strict regulation of nanosilver by the EPA. Even if you use the system to send a comment against the proposal to regulate nanosilver as a "new pesticide," the system overrides your comment by superceding it with a "canned" favorable comment.

This means virtually all of the comments going to the EPA have been in favor of further regulation of nanosilver products.

Since EPA depends heavily upon public comments when deciding upon new regulatory action, it is vitally important that they get to hear the views of those who do not want to see nanosilver further regulated by the EPA as a "new pesticide."

Comments to the EPA will be closed as of January 20, 2009, so we have only a short time to act on this issue in order to save colloidal silver from being regulated into oblivion.

My Contact with the EPA

I picked up the phone this afternoon and called the EPA at the number under “Contact Us” on their web site (202-564-4700).

A very nice gentleman named “Peter” answered and I asked him how I could submit a comment on the nanosilver regulation issue, as their web site appears to offer no easy way to take and deliver such comments from the public.

He said to send comments by fax or email directly to the EPA Administrator, Mr. Stephen Johnson:

Must Act Quickly and Decisively!

As quickly as possible we need to get the above contact information posted on as many relevant natural health internet forums as possible, and also circulated by email to all relevant people in the natural health industry.

Please do your part to help by referring as many "natural health" people as possible to this blog post.

The rabid environmentalists have had a huge head start on this issue, since they are the only ones who knew where to send comments to. And there is only a very short period of time left between now and January 20th to submit further comments.

Wild and Invalid Claims

As you may already know, the environmental groups and fake "consumer advocate" groups have been making wild and invalid claims about nanosilver for some time now, stating that it is in immediate need of EPA regulation due to its alleged potential to harm the environment.

Through deception and chicanery these groups have managed to convince the EPA to re-classify nanosilver as a "pesticide" under an obscure set of regulations known as FIFRA.

Now they are pressing the FDA to strictly enforce those regulations under the supposition that nanosilver products represents a dire threat to the environment.

Yet not one study to date – I repeat, not one study -- has ever demonstrated nanosilver to have harmed any part of the environment. Instead, only test tube and lab studies extrapolating its alleged negative effects on the environment have been conducted.

And for the most part, those studies have been conducted by researchers who were either hired by the environmental groups to demonstrate nanosilver’s alleged harmful environmental attributes, or by researchers specifically working to forward the agenda of these groups.

In other words, the so-called studies have been conducted by researchers who are predisposed to believe nanosilver is somehow harmful, or somehow represents a dire threat to the environment. They have been paid to demonstrate exactly that. This means the study outcomes are decided upon in advance, before the studies are even started. This is junk science at its worst.

Re-Defining NanoSilver to Include Colloidal Silver

What’s more, the environmental groups behind this drive to have nanosilver regulated into oblivion have re-defined the term “nanosilver” to include just about any commercial form of natural silver available on the market today, including ALL colloidal silver products.

In one of their petitions to the EPA demanding the regulation of nano-silver products, these groups have even named some of the top commercial colloidal silver brands on the market today (including Sovereign Silver, Meso-Silver, ASAP Colloidal Silver, Utopia Silver and more) as being in dire need of “regulation.”

So the whole thing reeks of a stealth campaign to have colloidal silver banned.

The Bottom Line

The bottom line is that silver has been in the environment for millions of years. In its natural state, bonded to other minerals and natural substances, it causes no harm to the environment whatsoever.

As commercially produced nanosilver returns to the environment it is very rapidly degraded as it agglomerates (i.e., bonds together) with natural minerals, salts and other natural environmental substances that in effect eliminate its commercial nano-scale attributes, as well as effectively neutralizing its so-called “potentially harmful pesticide qualities” (i.e., its ability to kill pathogens on contact).

So in reality, there is no threat to the environment whatsoever from nanosilver products.

Rigged Studies

The researchers who have ostensibly demonstrated harmful attributes of nanosilver on environmental life forms such as bacteria or tiny minnows used extremely high quantities of pure commercially produced nanosilver products in their lab studies.

In other words they used levels of nanosilver that would simply never be found in the environment, due to silver’s propensity to bond rapidly with a multitude of other minerals, salts and other substances and return to its natural state once back in the environment.

In short, the studies are bunk. They prove nothing. The reason the studies were conducted in the laboratory rather than in the actual environment is because it was already known what would have been demonstrated in an true environmental study. No environmental harm whatsoever would have been found.

But by doing lab studies under rigged conditions that could never be found in the environment itself, the environmentalist researchers were able to demonstrate exactly what they set out to demonstrate. In other words, these studies were a “fix” from the beginning, in my opinion.

My Comments to the EPA

Here is what I posted through the EPA web site comment submission system earlier today. Whether or not these comments actually get posted to the EPA web site is another story. We shall see. Nevertheless, I also intend to submit my comments through the EPA’s email and fax systems noted above, as well as through the U.S. mail at the address noted above.

Folks, we need to bombard EPA with comments against the proposal to further regulate nano-silver as a “pesticide,” just as the environmentalists have been bombarding them with comments in favor of the proposal. Here’s the comment I submitted:

To the Honorable Mr. Stephen Johnson, Administrator:

The idea that nanosilver needs to be regulated by EPA due to ostensilbe harm to the environment is ridiculous at face value.
No study has ever demonstrated nanosilver to have caused harm to the environment.

The only studies conducted have been laboratory studies that have extrapolated nanosilver's alleged environmental impact. These studies have completely ignored the fact that once returned to the environment nanosilver rapidly bonds with minerals, salts and other natural substances, forming non-nano scale conglomerate particulates, essentially returning the silver to its natural harmless state.

In other words, once returned to the environment it is no longer nanosilver. And it no longer has the attributes deemed harmful by the white coat lab researchers who have conducted their laboratory studies using nanosilver in its purest and most non-adulterated commercial form rather than looking at what actually happens to nanosilver once it returns to the environment.

By promoting lab studies that assume nanosilver somehow remains in its nano-scale commercial form once returned to the environment -- which is so demonstrably false as to be ludicrous -- the environmentalists behind the push to regulate nanosilver as a new “pesticide” have done EPA and the American public a grave injustice. They have created an environmental "crisis" where none exists.

If you carefully read the petitions and press releases put out by the environmental groups now petitioning EPA in regards to regulating nanosilver, you will see they are so full of unsupported speculations and weasel words (i.e., "might cause harm" "could impact the environment," "may be highly destructive") as to be laughable.

We respectively submit EPA ignore the rabid calls to regulate nanosilver being made by neo-Luddite environmentalist groups. It is simply and conclusively a non-issue, in terms of potential harm to the environment.

Silver has always been in the environment and always will be. And when commercially produced nanosilver is returned to the environment it does not in any way, shape or form retain its commercial nanosilver properties. This issue is therefore moot; it is the proverbial "much ado about nothing."

"Hide 'n' don't seek?" NATURALLY Speaking by Christopher C. Barr

This column marks the eighth year of NATURALLY Speaking with combined experience going back to the 1980s for this columnist regarding print and broadcast journalism on the subject matter of health.

A pattern has emerged that news in the mainstream (a polluted stream if ever there was one) often publishes stories on holidays and weekends that the mainstream would rather not get too much attention. People generally are paying less attention to news and more attention to leisure on holidays and weekends.

Stories hidden away in this fashion could be a good news item of which too much notice is not desired, or it could be a bad news item of which too much notice is not desired.

Never was this popular mainstream media game ever more evident than on this past, long, New Year’s holiday weekend with not either but rather both a multiple of good and bad news stories involved.

Good news

First, there was a great “good news” item appearing very late New Year’s Eve about grape seed extract killing cancer cells. Though surprising to see in a mainstream news report it was not at all surprising news to me as I have more than a little knowledge and experience with this dating back at least 20 years.

This current report was based on a study conducted at the University of Kentucky and published in the science journal Clinical Cancer Research.

More good news

At the very same late hour New Year’s Eve another “good news” item appeared on naprapathy which is a not well known alternative medical system of healing. This report noted superiority of naprapathy for pain relief compared to regular medical approaches.

Specific mention was made of “nutritional counseling” as part of the benefit offered by naprapathy. Specific mention was made of relief regarding connective tissue matter in general with singling out of back pain, neck pain, knee strain, sciatica, shoulder pain and tennis elbow.

The mineral nutrient silicon (or silica) is the key nutrient for connective tissue and has a long history of successful use with regard to these very areas singled out in the news story.

Shifting gears

Following the two “good news” reports were two “bad news” reports and each regarding the same substance – the drug Fosamax.

The first of the two “bad news” reports on Fosamax was in the middle of New Year’s Day. Is anybody paying attention to news in the middle of New Year’s Day?

Shifty gearings

The first of the Fosamax reports was a sneaky bit of propaganda titled, ‘Osteoporosis Drug Prompts Increase in Certain Bone Cells’.

The title makes this sound like a positive finding though it is actually positively deceptive.

Since osteoporosis is bone loss then increase in bone cells sounds good.

The story named Fosamax right out at the very beginning and continued its mention repeatedly.

Yet, if you read the story carefully it was noted well into the story that this was not necessarily (if at all) a good thing.

Too many Americans dumbed down by government sponsored education and government certified refined, denatured ‘foods’ that have been robbed of their nutrients would see this as a positive story about the government approved Fosamax drug rather than the negative story about Fosamax that story actually is.

Bad news and worse news still

The final item was at almost midnight at the end of New Year’s Day.

Is anybody paying any attention to any new (or anything else) after New Year’s Eve followed by a full day of New Year’s Day activities leading well into a four-day weekend?

This news item noted very bad news about Fosamax that could not be manipulated into any kind of positive spin.

However, this news story did disguise the Fosamax connection by speaking in generic chemical terms and only noting the name ‘Fosamax’ very far down into the story.

A problem with jaw disintegration from use of osteoporosis drugs – including (especially) with Fosamax – was noted in the new Journal of The American Dental Association.

This has been referred to as Fossyjaw for a very long time by those of us in the know though the story made no mention of either this term or this fact.

The story did admit that the problem “may be much higher than previously thought”.

“This is more frequent than everybody would like to think it is,” the story quoted from the dentist who authored the newly published study.

The story noted an increase from one case per year to one to four cases per week. If you do the math (which the news story did not) that is an increase of from more than 5,000 to almost 21,000 per cent! That should be phenomenal news if not state-of-emergency news rather than buried-where-and-when-nobody-is-paying-any-attention news.

Another aspect of Fosamax that is barely mentioned in the story regards an increase in esophageal cancer with its use. However, the story considerably plays this down.

Readily admitted is that there is a decided increase in GERD (acid reflux) among users of Fosamax.

Do you happen to know that one of the primary medical concerns regarding GERD is that it substantially increases risk of esophageal cancer? This wasn’t mentioned in the news stories on Fosamax.

Oh what a tangled web the mainstream media weaves when it pretty much constantly practices to deceive.

Saving the best news for last

For the record, osteoporosis and bone loss is not caused by a deficiency of Fosamax – or a deficiency of any other drug for that matter.

A gross nutritional deficiency of the mineral nutrient silicon (or silica) earlier mentioned in another regard is the predominant factor in osteoporosis.

Fiat Food and Fiat Money Side Effects: Pharmaceutical and Economic Enslavement; Both are FDA and FTC Approved

Headline: Grocer to Offer Free Antibiotics to Customers for 3 Months "Giant's decision to offer free antibiotics comes as more Americans postpone needed care because of the ailing economy, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation poll released in October."

There is a parallel between the ailing economy and our ailing health. For too long the economy has operated on the artificial sustenance of fiat money (that is, money created out of thin air and backed by nothing). Similarly, for too long have millions subsisted on food devoid of the adequate nutrient content necessary to sustain optimal health. Government nutritional experts, if they followed the pattern of government economic experts, would propose more "fast food" as a solution to crises of nutritional deficiencies.

I know, it sounds absurd. How can you improve the health of people eating deficient foods by providing MORE deficient foods? This is tantamount to repairing an economy in tatters precisely because of money devoid of real value -- by printing even more of the same.

What is the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result. Under the definition of insanity in the dictionary, we should now see a picture of Treasury Secretary Paulsen and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke.

The end result of subsisting on valueless food is valueless health. So it does come down to what you really value. If you value health, you will do all within your power to feed your family that which is rife with vitamins, minerals and trace minerals, along with essential fats and all the amino acids a body needs. You might also consider limiting your exposure to toxins that further deplete whatever nutrients you still may have.

It is time we recognize that private or semi-private industry is merely imitating government in their "bailout" behavior. In the case of Giant Foods providing free antibiotics, it is eerily similar to government bailouts of one-time private-sector businesses with free "money." Those businesses are now enslaved to bureaucrats.

As an important side note, people with acute or chronic infections do not suffer from antibiotic deficiencies. And the economy does not suffer from a lack of fiat money.

Just as there is no emphasis being placed on sound nutrition as a solution to the health care crisis in America, don't you find it equally interesting that there is no emphasis on sound money as a solution to the economic crisis? Who would want to perpetuate disease in the health and economic arena and why?

The end result of relying on empty calories for better physiological and monetary health is pharmaceutical and economic enslavement. Only one question remains: Who are the slaveholders?

Once you identify them, you are free to direct your ire at the true beneficiaries of the current system of disease management in both the health care sector and the economy-at-large instead of tilting at Democratic and Republican windmills.

A Fond Farewell to Christine Maggiore, Dear Friend and Founder of Alive and Well AIDS Alternatives

The world has lost another great champion for health freedom and healing integrity.

Christine Maggiore, author of "What If Everything You Thought You Knew About AIDS Was Wrong?" and founder of Alive and Well AIDS Alternatives passed away suddenly on December 27th, 2008. I loved her dearly as a friend who shared a similar mission to reveal the truth to all those who were ready to hear it. I had her on my radio show a number of times over the years to stay current with those who had the courage to recognize the reality of immune deficiency and the fact that it was not caused by a retrovirus called HIV or any other name.

Her voice was one of clarity, passion and sanity amidst a pharmaceutical industrial complex gone mad. I am ever so grateful to know her and call her a friend. Over Labor Day weekend 2008, I had the great fortune to share a meal with Christine, her husband Robin and son Charlie, Clark Baker and others friendly to the cause of truth.

Christine truly had a golden heart. Despite all of the vicious attacks on her and her family by AIDS establishment minions, her heart remained filled with the love of family and friends.

Christine, you will be missed, but all that you have done is not in vain. The awareness is growing in great part because of your courage and tenacity in the face of such opposition and fear. Dear Friends,

It is with deep sorrow that I tell you my wife, Christine Maggiore died unexpectedly on December 27th. She leaves behind our son, Charlie and the memory of our daughter, Eliza Jane.

Christine was a beacon of hope for many people whose lives, like her own, had been turned upside down by an HIV positive diagnosis. When she received this devastating label in 1992, Christine—in spite of predictions that she had five years to live—did not give up, but devoted her life to helping others. For several years she was a public speaker for AIDS Project Los Angeles, LA Shanti Foundation and was a founding board member of Women At Risk. It was in the process of trying to find a doctor that she felt comfortable dying with that Christine starting getting conflicting information from AIDS experts, particularly troubling in the search to save her own life. One doctor in particular suggested that Christine retest and she finally did, testing HIV negative, positive and indeterminate over a dozen times in subsequent months. She was shocked. Christine took her questions and confusion to the very AIDS organizations that she was helping to build and their unanimous dismissal of her inquiries forced Christine to look outward. This series of events profoundly shook her faith in mainstream AIDS beliefs and sent her down a rabbit hole of exploration that would challenge everything that she had been lead to believe.

Over the subsequent years, Christine’s research put her in touch with people all over the world whose work and commitment to open dialog and debate caused her to rethink everything she had been taught to teach others about HIV and AIDS. Most importantly, it led her to question the absolute assertion that an HIV positive diagnosis meant she had to die.

In 1995, Christine set out to assemble a three-fold brochure outlining a series of facts that had been most compelling in her search for truth. That brochure turned into the first incarnation of her seminal book, What If Everything You Thought You Knew About AIDS Was Wrong? It took Christine years to unearth the many studies, writings and facts that began to alleviate the shame and terror of her HIV diagnosis. Her desire was to create something concise and informative and empowering that she could give to others who had received a similar diagnosis and who were ashamed and terrified and alone.

Christine’s book—now in it’s 4th edition— has been translated into seven languages; her monumental work with her non-profit organization, Alive and Well AIDS Alternatives, has redefined what we think about AIDS; and her tireless communications, writings and pod casts have touched thousands of lives around the world and continue to provide a beacon of hope for anyone who lives in fear of AIDS.

In spite of Christine’s strength, she was also under tremendous pressure and scrutiny. She often felt that she wasn’t allowed to get sick like other people. After her daughter died in 2005 of an allergic reaction to an antibiotic for an ear infection, the LA County Coroner—ignoring evidence to the contrary—declared it a death from AIDS and Christine’s suffering increased horribly. She was vilified in the world media and harassed by outspoken opponents of her work who openly gloated that this was her just comeuppance. She and her family endured a yearlong criminal investigation that not only terrorized them, but also robbed them of an opportunity to mourn the loss of their daughter. That loss was twisted into sensationalized and mean spirited television episodes that portrayed Christine as a quack and a murderer and ultimately as dead. Christine never fully recovered from the unjust treatment that she received around the loss of Eliza Jane and that treatment ultimately exhausted her.

A week and a half ago, Christine was diagnosed with bilateral pneumonia and did not conjure the strength to overcome it. She died unexpectedly in her home with her husband and a dear friend. Christine Maggiore’s death is a shock and devastating blow to her family and to the thousands of people around the world who loved and respected her.

For anyone who lives in fear of an HIV or AIDS diagnosis, Christine’s legacy will live on. She was committed to sharing vital facts and essential dialog that would give HIV positive people everywhere the chance to consider a destiny that differs from the one of death and despair that they are taught to expect. For that she was loved.

Christine will be deeply missed.

A memorial will be planned within the next couple of weeks but please join us at our home tonight (Tuesday Dec. 30) for an informal gathering of friends and family. Please bring your musical instruments.

There is also a follow up titled In Her Own Words, a Dec 19 Email From Christine Maggiore in response to the soulless (and completely unfounded) claims by HIV apologists as to the cause of death.

Although we mourn our loss of Christine here on planet earth, I am consoled by the fact that Christine has been reunited with her daughter EJ in a better place.

Luc Chaltin, N.D., D.I. Hom., Torchebearer for Clinical Homeopathy and Organic Agriculture Passes Away at 85

My mentor and teacher in the organic and homeopathic realm passed from this earth recently. I remain grateful to Luc Chaltin for all that he taught me about the nature of healing and the healing of nature. He added much to the body of knowledge, particularly in the field of Clinical Homeopathy, for which he served as an innovative torchbearer, especially after emigrating to the United States in the 1980's. Following is his obituary:

Dr. Luc Chaltin, age 85, of Decatur passed away on December 28, 2008. Dr. Chaltin was born May 7, 1923 to Henri and Maria Chaltin in Kontich, Belgium. Survivors include: nine children who reside in Europe; his family at Newton Laboratories; and thousands of friends and patients. He was preceded in death by a son. He was previously a long-time resident of Rockdale County where he established Newton Laboratories, a leading manufacturer of clinical homeopathic remedies, and the American Academy of Clinical Homeopathy, an educational affiliate.

Fondly known as "Dr. Luc", he was fluent in Dutch, French, German and English. He received degrees from the University of Antwerp, Belgium, Clayton School of Natural Healing, British Institute of Homeopathy in England, "Provinciale Land-en Tuinbouwschool" Mechelen, Belgium and studied at the School of Business in Leuven, Belgium.

Dr. Luc served on the Board of Directors for C.A.M.A., a non profit organization that promoted alternative and natural healthcare. He was a world renowned homeopath and healed and treated countless patients throughout the United States, Europe, Canada and the Caribbean.

Dr. Luc wrote the first Advanced Clinical Homeopathy Correspondence Course, authored the first homeopathic book in Dutch, hosted an Organic Gardening radio program in Belgium and co-hosted the syndicated "Jump Start Your Health" radio program with Robert Scott Bell here in the United States.

He frequently lectured to the public, medical doctors, homeopaths, naturopaths and pharmacists. Dr. Luc was literally a walking testimony for good health, exercising and a curious mind. He was an avid reader, an organic gardener and enjoyed daily hikes. Resilient until the end, he passed away of complications from a fall while hiking.

The community of Natural Health has lost a very important figure and he will be greatly missed. His legacy of Homepathic formulations and teachings will continue to affect generations to come.

The family will receive friends Friday, January 2, 2009 from 5 pm - 8 pm at Metro Emb. and Crematory, Inc. located at 329 Gees Mill Business Parkway Suite #300 Conyers, GA 30013 (770) 922-8182. Dr. Luc chose to be cremated and a celebration of his life will be arranged in the near future.
