8/30/09 1:19 PM Greetings Rav Barr, I want to take this opportunity to thank you so very much for your devout willingness to serve your fellow man (and woman in this case) so selflessly through your belief in The Heavenly Father and HIS was of healing us. HIS WAY meaning the use of HIS natural organic creation/supplements (nature tamed, captured, and put into convenient pill-size for us) that HE, The Creator, made to compliment our organic bodies. It has always been my belief that if Medical Doctors were taught we are “organic” in nature rather than “chemical” in nature that they would rethink the ways they treat a patient and I believe they would find a more agreeable result. Continuously trying to overcome the horrific secondary effects from the incompatible chemicals put in our bodies is, to say the least, an unnecessary battle. You have taught us the answer is right in front of our faces. Specifically, I would like to take you back to 3 years ago, to Oct. 2006 when I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer: Stage 3B. I remember the morning after surgery when Dr. Clinton Cook III, in Moutain Home, Arkansas, an elderly grandfather image of a doctor came to my bedside to give me the heart-breaking news. “Well, we’ll at least give you the option to take chemotherapy,” said Dr. Cook. From the way he said that, “… we’ll at least give you the option …” I knew I was in trouble. He said nothing of it being caught early or of any odds of beating these things. I remember asking him about Selenium at that time. “It’s a great preventative, I TOOK if for MANY years, but it won’t help you now,” Dr. Cook advised. I looked at him with a raised eyebrow and said, “TOOK?” Sheepishly he cast his eyes down and admitted he had been off it for several years now. My ovaries had just been removed the day before. One wasn’t even there, the cancer had completely eaten it in less than 30 days (its progress observed through 3 different ultrasounds with vaginal probe during that 30-day span). Dr. Cook was sure I had Serus because of the aggressive nature of my cancer and what he had seen inside of me. Serus does not react to the chemo. It was a death warrant. So sure was he that they sent my pathology to 3 different labs always expecting the next one to say it was Serus, not Borderline Serus. However, it was Borderline, although VERY malignant and VERY aggressive. He had me scheduled for 6 chemo sessions (in 3 week intervals), to be followed after a break by another 6 chemo sessions (in 3 week intervals), and then another surgery to remove the omentum which was not previously surgically removable because of the wide-spread cancer and scarring throughout, as well as he wanted a “Second-Look exploratory” to recheck areas. My chemo doctor in Mountain Home, Arkansas actually advised me very strongly not to take any supplements or alter my normal diet in any way. He was certain that would make no difference in my success. At that time I was a newly married 50 years old grandmother raising my 9-year-old granddaughter. My husband was sure in his belief that The Heavenly Father would heal me and keep us together. Emotionally, I remember my willingness to accept if The Father said it was my time, but couldn’t understand with so many dependent on me why He would choose this time to take me. I just surrendered to His will and higher purpose. That surrender meant not leaving things in the hands of medical doctors, solely. We came to you for your wealth of knowledge and help. You put me on a regime of 100 per cent whole food supplements, among them high doses of Selenium, and encouraged us through truth and the wisdom of Torah-Observant-Living to include, but not limited to the dietary and health laws of Scripture. You encouraged us to remain faithful to The Father and His ways. You anointed me with oil, laid hands on me, and prayed for healing with us. My CA-125s dropped quickly. By Thanksgiving I was already celebrating the news with family and loved ones. Both my surgeon and my chemo doctor were amazed at the quick turnaround in my overall physical condition. At the end of the first round of chemo they decided to do a Second-Look surgery. They removed the omentum and scar tissue throughout the region. Pathology was all clear and there was no reason to pursue a 2nd round of chemo. I continued my CA-125 blood work with a local doctor who also shared with me about his lack of belief as to the nature of my cancer and its seriousness. “It’s just uncharacteristic to be that well and have no signs so quickly,” the doctor said. He called my chemo doctor in Arkansas and asked many questions because he was sure that tests were wrong or incomplete. I told him about you and what your contribution to my treatment was and he said he had heard of you, and that he also knew the good of Selenium that he had taken for many years. After my one-year-mark, the doctor actually used the “C” word. He said I was CURED! This is a taboo in the medical field. You just don’t say it. Not about cancer. At the time I was being treated I was told by Dr. Cook that the term “remission” is only used when referring to Leukemia and all other cancers are referred to as “Under Control”. So naturally, I was shocked and asked the opinion of my chemo doctor. He agreed that I was cured. They felt there was no need to continue regular visits for blood work, and recommended 6 month visits for the next year just to be safe. There is no doubt in my mind that The Heavenly Father chose me to produce another of His miracles upon. Thank you so much for choosing to be His obedient Servant and for sharing your wealth of knowledge with us. I know you will be blessed. A sad epilog: My surgeon sent me a letter, just before my 2nd Post-surgical check-up to advise me he was closing his practice immediately due to health issues. I never got to say goodbye. He was diagnosed with cancer and died 2 weeks later. I can’t help but wonder if he had remained on the Selenium if that would have happened. Open Letter From Christopher Barr Health/Nutrition Historian To American Institute for Cancer Research
To Whom It May Concern:
This past weekend a fund raising letter from American Institute of Cancer Research was brought to my attention by a concerned past supporter of yours.
Well, maybe ‘concerned’ is not the right word – he was laughing. Past is definitely the right word, though, as he won’t be sending any more funds your way.
At the top of the letter was your ‘Recommendation for Cancer Prevention’ – a ‘To Do’ list of 8 numbered items. These were somewhat common sense suggestions except for the last one.
The item numbered ‘8’ was a NOT ‘To Do’ on the ‘To Do’ list.
“8. Don’t use supplements to protect against cancer.”
Now, it is one thing when doctors say supplements won’t help. That evidences that they are w-a-a-a-y behind in the research of selenium against cancer. However, to note NOT to use supplements as part of a cancer prevention protocol is to infer and imply if not outright put forth that all supplements likely contribute to cancer incidence. That is at best retarded and at worst idiotic -- or perhaps criminal.
I asked the addressee if I could make a copy of the letter but he said, “Just keep it. I’m not sending them any more money.”
You see, this man’s wife was diagnosed with late stage ovarian cancer in 2006 – stage 3B (virtually terminal). [See letter attached.] The doctor was so discouraged after exploratory surgery that he gave her a very dour offering of “Well, we’ll at least give you the option to take chemo therapy.”
This woman asked about taking the mineral supplement selenium but this doctor told her supplements were a waste of time. Another oncologist later told her the same thing with greater fervency and also adding that dietary changes were equally worthless.
Well, this lady knew something of my extensive research on the use of selenium in a 100 per cent, whole food grown form with cancer (and a number of other areas as well).
The lady commenced with 800 micrograms daily of 100 per cent whole food selenium (and hearty amounts of 100 per cent whole food forms of GTF chromium and silicon as well as following a specialized dietary).
Her improvement was rapid and dramatic.
Doctors had recommended 6 chemotherapy treatments at 3-week intervals to be followed by a break and then repeating the initial treatment again. Doctors noted that they would then perform a second surgery to remove the omentum which was not previously removable due to extensive scarring and wide spread cancer.
Well, after the first round of chemotherapy and CA-125s dropping to normal doctors decided to do surgery before another round of chemotherapy. Omentum and scar tissue was removed. Pathology was all clear. Doctors scrapped the second round of chemotherapy. At the one year mark of her initial diagnosis the medical doctor declared her cured. The woman has a background in the medical field so she was very surprised that he would use the word ‘cured’ with cancer and especially after only one year.
That cured declaration of cancer with extensive supplementation was going on 3 years ago.
Perhaps you’d rather ascribe success to the anointing with oil and laying on of hands with the prayer of faith from a preacher man? Somehow I doubt you’d be more comfortable with the power of a praying preacher.
Maybe you’d rather credit The Almighty with this healing? That would likely be even less appealing to you than power from a praying preacher.
So get up to date on selenium and selenium supplementation. Selenium was first documented for successful cancer treatment in 1911. It has been documented for treatment and/or prevention of cancer through every decade since then in medical journals (British Medical Journal, Cancer Research, JAMA, etc.).
Of course, the best – and most consistent – results are far and away with 100 per cent, whole food grown forms of selenium rather than selenium compounds phormed after a pharmaceutical phashion.
The highest rate of cancer prevention in a clinical, double-blind study was with a 100 per cent, whole food grown form of selenium. No drug or medical procedure has ever documented results anywhere near as close. Neither has a vitamin, mineral, amino acid or any other nutrient compound or derivative shown such dramatic results as selenium in any study on any individuals anywhere EVER.
Please don’t bring up that pathetic and phraudulent SELECT study. That study used a pharmaceutical phorm of selenium noted to be the weakest in antioxidant (read “anti-cancerous”) activity. They used it in only half the amount of selenium studies that demonstrated success. They also mixed its usage with substances demonstrated in the past to reduce antioxidant activity of selenium.
By the way, I was on my way to another couple when I dropped in on your past supporter, and shared your letter with them. The woman’s husband laughed just as the last husband who gave me the letter. The wife didn’t laugh, though. She bolted up in her recliner and said, “I’d be dead without these supplements.”
This lady was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer some years ago. She did not follow the oncologist’s recommendations for surgery, chemotherapy and/or radiation. She chose a very similar nutritional protocol (though a bit more aggressive) to that of the previous lady.
Less than one year later after a PETscan her oncologist noted she was clear.
Just last month she had a follow-up PETscan. This time she sought out a local oncologist rather than the out-of-state university oncological specialist.
The local doc only did the PETscan after informing her and her husband that he had 35 years of experience as an oncologist, and that no supplement or dietary changes have any effect on cancer. They said they then had to sit through a 30 minute lecture in which they were chided for their foolishness and were assured that the cancer had most certainly metastasized.
It seems the doctor did the PETscan just to prove a point. Perhaps the $5,000 dollar fee also entered in to his agreement to do the procedure.
One week later at the follow-up the doctor had quite a different disposition. He noted that no matter how much he examined the PETscan that it was clear.
The local oncologist proved a different point than that which he had promoted with his previous expectation.
Oh, and this lady also now no longer needs her thyroid medication she had taken for more than 20 years. Selenium is of much more importance to thyroid health than iodine. She is off her diabetic medication as her blood sugars are now normal. Her high cholesterol is now a thing of the past. In short, this senior citizen is in the peak of health!
There are others of which I have personal knowledge related to cancer and selenium as well as other 100 per cent whole food nutrients (in addition to the vast research I have done). I could go on and on – and guess I have to some extent.
Oh, and I also read that tiny, little, fine print on the back of your letter. That’s an eye-opener both literally and figuratively.
So the American Institute FOR CANCER RESEARCH spent less money in its last fiscal year “directly in support of cancer research” (to quote your fine print) than for anything else on which you spent funds – barely more than 10 per cent of your spending.
More money was spent on administrative costs than on cancer research.
Twice as much was spent on fundraising costs than on cancer research.
Five times as much (more than half of all spending totaling almost $20 million dollars) was spent on public education than on cancer research – except in your case that would be for public miseducation i.e. misinformation and disinformation.
Your spending habits are not consistent with your organization’s titled name of “For Cancer Research”. The name is at least misleading if not entirely inaccurate. Isn’t there some kind of truth in labeling or truth in advertising violation in there somewhere?
How about “American Institute for Cancer Misinformation”? Or “American Institute for Cancer Perpetuation”?
Also noticed that your headquarters is in Washington, D.C. (District of Criminals).
That seems fitting.

The Government's Unconstitutional War on Natural Cancer Treatments
Why shouldn't I be free to decide what is real or fraudulent when it comes to the treatment of cancer, much less its cure? Why shouldn't you? This is where we have irrefutable evidence of the current slave-state mentality of my fellow countrymen, the people of the united States. How could a "free" people tolerate governmental and corporate interference in the care of their bodies at all? Perhaps fluoride has clouded our judgment. Why else would we believe that the FDA is really about our protection? Especially from some leaves that might cure cancer. Maybe we should dump all of our anti-cancer tea in the Boston Harbor. How about some Selenium as well?
It is a disgusting outrage and an embarrassment that a free people would tolerate such restrictions when it comes to the care of their health. How do you defend the FDA's war on natural cancer therapies? Is it really "fraud" to heal cancer without FDA approval? No. The real fraud is the claim that the FDA could protect us from fraud. They encourage it. They allow it. They subsidize it pharmaceutically. What would you call the monopoly practice of oncology and its barbaric treatments?
Cancer is not caused by a lack of chemotherapy, radiation or surgery. But it may very well be caused by a lack of that which the FDA claims is fraudulent. More people die of the treatment for cancer than cancer itself. More people die each year from FDA approved substances than have died from ingesting natural medicinal substances since the dawn of these united States of America (I am not including mercury here, even though, technically, it's natural). It's strange that when allopathic medicine uses a substance from nature, it's not only toxic, but unlike the homeopaths, they use it in a toxic dose.
In the private sector, if any company had a track record even 1/10 as bad as FDA and the drug industry they "regulate," it would have been bankrupted within a year and its executives brought up on criminal charges. Instead of Nixon's perpetual War on Cancer, we now have the pharmaceutical industrial complex's war on natural cancer treatments. This is made possible only because of the monopoly status granted allopathic medicine by government despite the prohibition against granting titles of nobility. Read the Constitution for goodness sake. It is, in actuality, the responsibility of the People to hold public servants to their oath of office, but too many of them are under the influence of all that is approved by government. If "we the people" remain addicted to FDA approved drugs, it may be a conflict of interest that our republic cannot Bayer.
Does government do anything right? How about the War on Illicit Drugs? Surely that is justified because they are more dangerous than the FDA approved variety. Aren't they? Just wait 'til you read my next blog entry...

Avast ye, Avastin! Your Cancer Drug Credentials Are in Question
Selling worthless drugs with FDA approval is precisely the game as it is played on the American people, the most drugged population on planet earth. Somehow, I do not think that's what the Founding Fathers had in mind in establishing a new nation. A nation of people that relies on the government to direct them in their health and medical choices is the antithesis of what they were thinking of at the dawning of these united States of America.
Oh sure, they really wanted a country where the people would be dependent upon a federal bureaucracy at the nation's seat of power. Do you see how absurd our decline into medical tyranny actually is? A free people, or a people who cherish freedom would never tolerate such a descent into socialized fascism of any variety, least of all medical.
Traditionally, FDA only approved cancer drugs that extended the lifespan of patients. However, in recent years companies have studied alternate measures of a drug's effectiveness. One of the most controversial measures is so-called progression-free survival, or how long the drug halts the spread of cancer.
While I believe it is your freedom to choose a drug that may have no benefit, the fact that its makers enjoy a government sanctioned monopoly means that you are not really free to choose it. How can you be, if that's your only choice? It's just like the plethora of options that you would enjoy under communist rule. You can have any color car you like, as long as it's black.
In our current system of government, you can have any choice of cancer treatment you like, as long as it's chemotherapy, radiation or surgery. Selenium would be much simpler, cheaper and more effective. That is an outrage, but who speaks out for medical freedom in this country? I mean, besides Ron Paul...
