If we look at the nation as a cell or group of cells, why did it not know that an attack was imminent? Have we not matured enough to realize that when we poke a stick into a hornet nest we are going to get stung?
Cause and effect works for nations in the same way that it works for individuals. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The Hebrew Scriptures talked about it as "an eye for an eye" and it goes both ways. Are we so immature as a people that we don't recognize the difference between living as a spoiled child or a responsible adult?
When I see all the clamoring for government "bailouts" due to economically irresponsible behavior, it is unfortunately more apparent that we are no longer a nation of grown-ups. Give a listen to my podcast interview of economist Peter Schiff to hear an adult perspective on this childish mess.
What have we learned since the time of the attack on Pearl Harbor? If it's that "we are victims no matter what we do or do not do," then go back to Pampers. If, however, you understand that what you do matters and you conduct yourself accordingly, do not sit idly by while Democrats and Republicans re-interpret the Constitution to establish a socialist or fascist state for the rule of "necessity."
Since the rule of necessity has no law, our government is in anarchy. They have no lawful authority in ignoring Benjamin Franklin's prophetic warning:
What hath you wrought? "A republic, if you can keep it."
