Is there a double standard? Undoubtedly. You are free to be medically injured or killed as long as it is government-sanctioned, but not if it is of your own free will.
Why anyone would look to the FDA to protect their health is a mystery that can only be explained by those taking mass quantities of pharmaceutical drugs. Or, perhaps those who are lobbied in congress by the drug-makers. Of course, they are disqualified due to conflicts of interest and serious liver congestion. Now only if they were liable for approving deadly synthetic substances. Spiritually, they are.
