Senator Harry Reid said that those who oppose the Democratic health insurance reform are the same as those who wanted to slow down slavery's abolition in the time of Lincoln. Never mind the fact that the War Between the States was not fought over slavery, Reid is the epitome of the Newspeak of George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four.

Slavery is freedom. Disease management is health care. Drugs are essential nutrients. Surveillance is security. Freedom is unjust. Socialism is...

I am sure you can find more, because we are living the chapters of Huxley's Brave New World as well. Numbering people like cattle to extract their substance while intoxicating them with shots in the name of herd immunity is not what I would call a movement in support of liberty.

If we no longer stand for freedom, for what do we fall? History is rife with repetition for those who do not learn from it. Socialism failed for the Pilgrims, much less the Eastern Bloc under the Soviet Union, so why do political parties foist it upon us now in the guise of health care?

Do you think that because we have technology, power-hungry humans no longer like to rule over other humans? Are we somehow more humane because elites would like to enslave (with pharmaceutical drugs) the poorest among us? Or how about the fact that those same elitists would like to make everyone equally poor via Keynesian economic voodoo?

Now that 2/3 of the House supports Ron Paul's bill to audit the Federal Reserve, maybe they'll also support his bill to legalize monetary freedom: Statement Introducing the Free Competition in Currency Act.

Many years ago, John D. Rockefeller, Sr. famously stated, “Competition is a sin.” He preferred a monopoly, the very antithesis of economic freedom, in order to increase profits.

How do you defend a monopoly on money? The same way you defend a monopoly on health care. You must convince the people that they are not capable of taking care of themselves. 

In other words, sane, rational adults must be made to believe that they are dependent little children, thus relying upon experts (using the force of government) to run their lives (see the Fed, the FDA, the CDC, the FTC, etc).
In this way, the people erect their own electrified fences beyond which they do not stray for fear of having to care for themselves without an Orwellian safety net. This is how compulsory is redefined to mean voluntary.

Those who would sacrifice liberty for security, deserve neither.

Actually, you always have the freedom to choose it. It just differs whether you have to choose it in the throes of a police state. Would you really call that securing liberty to your posterity?

Chasing symptoms has become the national pastime, whether it be medically or politically. Bush may have been a lousy president, but he was just a symptom of a people no longer willing to hold politicians down by the chains of the Constitution.

Now comes Obama, like an FDA approved drug, to take away your symptoms. A steroid may take away your symptoms of itching and inflammation, but it also facilitates the development of cancer.

Most politicians are under the illusion that the cause of the economic crisis is the free market. If that's your starting point then socialism looks good to you. However, any system that relies upon theft for its operation is morally bankrupt and evil at the word "go."

So why do Democrats and Republicans both clamor for varying forms of socialism? Can it co-exist with freedom? Only if you change the definition.

The trillion dollar stimulus is abject theft from those not even born yet, much less the living already here. It is a form of slavery.

Did you know that Lincoln did not go to war to free the slaves, but to enslave the states in violation of their contracted "right" to secede from the Union? In addition to sending nearly 700,000 Americans to their death, Lincoln set the stage for a federal supremacy emanating from Washington, D.C. The Feds were supposed to be subservient to the states and the people. What do you think the 10th Amendment was all about?

"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

Is there a solution? Study the Declaration of Independence. Either that, or lots of drugs.
