LDL is Good for You, EPA Silver Attack Update and Is Cancer a Fungus?

Radio broadcast on Sunday, March 8, 2009 from 1 PM to 3 PM EDT: When you rolled up your sleeve for a flu shot, did you know that you were also getting a dose of LIVE Bird Flu? How well did the FDA do at protecting you from Baxter Pharmaceuticals?

Now, word on the congressional street is that there is a new bill (HR 875) proposing to enact even more draconian measures regarding the growing of food - even that which you grow in your back yard. Can you stomach more socialism and fascism parading as "change?"

If they will not let you feed yourself then why are you feeding them? Should this bill become "law," unless you are a large multinational food conglomerate with no allegiance to any nation or state, then you may not be allowed to do that which is fundamental to life on planet earth.

How many ways can Congress declare war on your life, liberty and property before you say "enough is enough?" You are under no obligation to remain enslaved to an UN-constitutional bureaucratic oligarchy. You would argue otherwise? Where exactly in the Declaration of Independence did they make a "freedom" exception for growing your own food?

Does anyone even know the definition of usurpation anymore?

The Robert Scott Bell Show cherishes the principles that strengthen our understanding and practical application of freedom and healing. Where other talk shows leave off, the Robert Scott Bell Show is just getting started. Listen to the voice of health freedom and liberty for perspective this week Sunday, March 8, 2009 from 1 PM to 3 PM EDT. Just turn on your radio or internet stream at the appropriate time.

Hour One: LDL is Good for You and EPA Silver Attack Update -- Does you doctor still counsel you to lower your LDL? Why? Did the Creator make a mistake when we were made with cholesterol? Why am I continually given opportunities to embarrass doctors, particularly cardiologists? This is not for ego gratification, but for protection of trusting patients being duped into statin use for which there is no good reason. Hypercholesterolemia? Bill Stanton returns to set the record straight on the irresponsible prescription of statin drugs, before it's too late.

Also, when I learned that environmental groups had petitioned the EPA to regulate nano-silver as a pesticide, I said that I smelled a pharmaceutical rat. Now the proof is in. Drug companies are donating millions to the "earth-friendly" charities so they may attack natural substances which compete with antibiotic and antiviral drugs. Earth friendly? What about the drug residues pouring out of their earth-muffin bladders? I desire a clean earth as much as anybody, but with environmentalist friends like these, the planet doesn't need any enemies.

Also, Mike Adams chimes in with the Health Ranger Report: Harvard Medical School is rife with drug conflicts of interest among their faculty. They got an "F" for education independent of pharmaceutical influence. Ivy League is looking more like a league of extraordinarily indoctrinated drug students. Mike nails medical malfeasance again.

Hour Two: Is Cancer a Fungus? -- While much of the mainstream media remains conveniently ignorant of the cause and natural cures for cancer, we continue to reveal the truth of the fraud that is the government's War on Cancer. Nixon declared it and every president since, including Obama, carries it on without question. Doug Kaufman knows better and he drops by to discuss the East Texas Wellness Expo coming up March 13-14, 2009 in Tyler, Texas. I will be there, Tulio Simoncini will be there. What is the relationship between fungus and cancer? Listen in this hour and you may Know the Cause as well.

In the news: Bird Flu in your next flu shot? It may have already happened. You cannot make this stuff up. More reasons to question the vaccine machine coming up.

"Hearty 'heave-ho' Given Good Heart Health Research" commentary by Christopher C. Barr

Vitamin pills don’t prevent heart disease, prominently declared the AP (Associated Propagandaess) “news” headline representative of other “news” coverage given an annual meeting of the American Hurt, er, uh, I mean, Heart, Association.

Heart disease has primarily to do with mineral deficiencies – notably of chromium, selenium, silicon and magnesium – so well grounded nutrition researchers wouldn’t be looking in the direction of vitamin pills.

Specifically, the study noted in the report was on vitamins C and E. Very few nutrition researchers would look to vitamin C for heart help. A few more would look to vitamin E though that would be misguided.

The study much ballyhooed by the mainstream press in general is – to quote the bard – much ado about nothing, or at least not very much at all. It was funded by the National Institutes of Health – your tax dollars at work and a wasted work at that.

Barely getting any attention at all was another study presented at the same meeting disclosing that daily aspirin therapy did not provide any benefit against heart problems. The AP “news” service made not so much as a mention of it.

Aspirin studies that show heart benefit do not use plain aspirin – they use buffered aspirin. The buffering agent in buffered aspirin is a hefty dose of magnesium – one of the primary minerals of which deficiency contributes to heart problems.

The benefit of magnesium supplementation to individuals with active heart problems was first documented half a century ago before the first buffered aspirin heart studies were conducted.

Aspirin as a benefit for the heart is a very old canard indeed.

Round and round and round it goes …

The AP article linked above did in its conclusion report that another study with vitamins B-12 and folic acid showed no benefit to the heart.

The vitamins B-12 and folic acid reverse homocysteine to the amino acid methionine.

Homocysteine is a long time demonstrated heart risk indicator though it was long ignored until recent years.

Tragically, more often ignored to this day is that the key to homocysteine issues are pyridoxal compounds commonly known as vitamin B6.

Homocysteine builds up when there is insufficient vitamin B6 to properly metabolize the essential amino acid methionine.

In other words, using vitamin B-12 and folic acid to reverse homocysteine to methionine without addressing the vitamin B6 deficiency that caused the problem in the first place means that homocysteine will form again. The homocysteine problem never really goes away but rather comes and goes back and forth in a not so merry-go-round and round robin of bird-brained medical minds lacking much in nutrition knowledge even as so many are lack much in nutrition.

Drug pushers protect their turf

Having drug pushers conduct nutrition research is like having foxes guarding chickens.

A straw man argument is when one sets up an argument, assigns it to another, and then burns up that argument while claiming to have discredited another who didn’t even believe that in the first place.

Straw man arguments are the stock in trade of medical men when they argue about nutrition.

Medical men push drugs that you have to appear before them and pay tribute (office vi$it) to get permission to access. You don’t need their permission to access nutrition so they have no motivation for making use of nutrition.

Another case in point is the story this week that purports to extend statin drug usage even to those without high cholesterol levels.

Statin drugs are already the number one selling drug in America and the new push by these drug pushers would increase that almost 50 per cent. Yet the study noted numerous side effects from the statins including higher levels of diabetics occurring in those taking the statins … oh, and by the way, diabetics have three to five times as much heart disease as non-diabetics.

Yet, for considerably less than half the cost of statins the ingestion of the essential mineral chromium in a 100 per cent whole food form in hearty (pun intended) amounts results in a decrease of LDL (“bad”) cholesterol that statins provide plus an increase of HDL (“good”) cholesterol that statins do NOT provide with none of the many serious side effects that statins provide.

No permission or tribute to doctors needed for a hearty nutritional approach.

Finally, at the same time as all these other storied medical studies comes word that the AMA has come out in support of trans fats bans. No mention is made that the common place use of trans fats resulted from rigorous recommendations for many decades from the AMA for their use. Meanwhile nutrition people who have cried out against trans fats these many decades that AMA has recommended them do not even get a mention.

The AMA declared that stopping use of trans fats would prevent 100,000 deaths per year in the United States alone. If that is true then the AMA has just admitted liability for 100,000 deaths per year in the United States alone based upon their many decades recommendations of trans fats.

"Diabetes and Heart Ailments – Weight or Wait Problem?" by Christopher C. Barr

The much ballyhooed connection of overweight and even obesity issues to illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes have been brought into question by two studies in this week’s Archives of Internal Medicine.

More than half overweight and nearly a third of obese adults in a national health/nutrition survey had healthful figures for such risk markers as cholesterol including the so-called “good” high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, and blood sugar, as well as insulin sensitivities.

By contrast, almost one quarter of those recognized as having normal weights had unhealthful figures for the same risk markers.

“A considerable proportion of overweight and obese U.S. adults are metabolically healthy, whereas a considerable proportion of normal-weight adults express a clustering of cardiometabolic abnormalities,” wrote Judith Wylie-Rosett, Rachel Wildman and colleagues in their published report.

Wylie-Rosett of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York oversaw one study and according to Reuters News said in a telephone interview, “We really don’t know as much about obesity as we think we do.”

No kidding.

“Her team did not look at people’s diets,” stated the Reuters News report.

To ignore (the root of the word ‘ignorance’) “people’s diets” is to miss the most important part of the equation.

Size doesn’t matter

The often rotund peoples on traditional Mediterranean diets such as in Greece and Italy have been well documented for less coronary artery disease than skinnier western counterparts in studies dating back more than half a century.

These studies are neither small nor obscure. The Framingham studies were large and long-term through four decades and well renowned.

The primary healthful differences came down to the type of oil – olive oil – and whole grains.

Much has been made of the olive oil.

That’s great.

Not so much has been made of the whole grains.

That’s too bad.

Simple breakdown

The biggest difference between whole grains and refined grains are three minerals that just happen to figure prominently in all of the observed markers and characteristics of the recent study.

The minerals silicon, selenium and chromium are abundant in whole grains and almost entirely absent in refined grains.

Chromium nourishes and strengthens muscle (like the heart) as well as offering some level of protection of the tissues. Chromium also manages cholesterol. Abundant chromium levels result in an abundance of the “good” HDL cholesterol. Low chromium levels result in low HDL and high “bad” LDL (low density lipoprotein) cholesterol.

Selenium provides protection of heart tissues from free radical damage, and assists with heart energy levels by way of production of Coenzyme Q10. Selenium also assists chromium with cholesterol management.

Silicon (or silica) is responsible for both strength and elasticity of arteries and other tissues.

One more study

The other study noted that the liver may be the key.

Unseen fatty accumulations in the liver were noted as a more accurate indicator of heart risk than easily seen fat.

Both selenium and chromium were established as nutrients essential for life 50 years ago in liver studies.

Coincidence?

A wait problem … not a weight problem

Almost 100 years ago the minerals chromium, selenium and silicon began to be routinely removed more than 90 per cent from whole grains by refining and bleaching processes. This was ruled a violation of the Pure Food & Drug Act by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1915 yet the practice continued – and continues today.

It is the wait for government to enforce the law and for food providers to follow the law that is the key to heart health – and diabetes as well (chromium was specifically cited as essential for blood sugar metabolism by the National Institutes of Health 50 years ago).

The people await the all too serious wait problem of the government and food providers to be addressed as a far more weighty issue than the weight of the people.

Coronary Calcification, Not Cholesterol Statin Stupidity

Headline: Coronary Calcification Predicts Future Heart Attacks and Coronary Death -- Cholesterol Not Found To Be A Significant Risk Factor "The New England Journal of Medicine report gives evidence of a major misdirection by modern medicine – the creation of cholesterol phobia in the population at large."

Uh-oh. How will they ever put the "cholesterol is good" rabbit back in the hat? I have been saying and writing it for many years: cholesterol is NOT a significant factor in the development of heart disease.

Oh yeah? Then why are Americans still spending BILLIONS in a futile effort to eliminate that which not only does NOT cause the disease for which they are worried, but the drugging to reduce it actually precipitates congestive heart failure, muscle wasting, cognitive decline, Alzheimer's and endocrine disruptions? Biological ignorance is not pretty, but that's what trusting government with your health gets you. So what's the problem, cholesterol or calcium?

"Among subjects whose coronary artery calcium score was zero, their risk for any adverse coronary event was only about one-half of 1%..."

The NEJM has spoken. It took them a while, but they finally agree with me.

Seeing as how it took the medical journals decades to report what was known for almost that long, they may take another ten years or so before they actually get around to answering another vital question.

How do we reduce calcification of the vascular system?"
I am a patient man, but I am not waiting for them to answer that which is already known. Now back to the inflammatory cascade...

What starts the process of calcification? Inadequate detoxification of the causes of inflammation and injury within the body's vascular pathways. This could be as simple as a metabolic waste such as uric acid. Although most doctors still think that uric acid can only cause gout, the reality is that it is equally inflammatory where there are no overt pain symptoms (that would be the arterial system).

Most indicated homeopathic remedy? Rhus toxicodendron. Why? Because it has an affinity for uric acid and other free radicals that cause vascular inflammation. Are you still confused about the cholesterol issue? You could always take a food grown GTF Chromium (at least 100 mcg three times a day) and elevate your HDL to such levels that LDL levels become somewhat inconsequential. Now back to the New England Journal of Medcine:

"About 50% of arterial plaque is calcium and only 3% is cholesterol."

Zero coronary calcium, nearly no risk of heart attack. Zero blood serum cholesterol? Death. Even low cholesterol results in less than optimal brain and neurological function, endocrine balance and adequate inflammation protection. Higher cholesterol levels correlate strongly with longevity and good brain health well into old age. Lower cholesterol levels? Earlier demise. Enough with the cholesterol mythology already. What more do you need now that the New England Journal of Medicine has chimed in? I mean, besides getting off statin drugs.

If it's too late and you already suffer congestive heart failure, how about some hawthorn berry syrup on your pancakes (organic whole grain of course). If you prefer the homeopathic form, ask for Crataegus, but you'll likely need a prescription.

Still afraid of cholesterol? Visit The International Network of Cholesterol Skeptics and get over it already.
