Regulators are not charged with protecting the public, but with protecting the stock portfolio of government. Can conflict of interest get any bigger or more devious? Under the guise of helping those with no health insurance, the feds have guaranteed that drug company stocks will be healthier than the economies of seven star systems.

Call them out. Democrats have become the deadly shills for the Pharmaceutical Industrial Complex, the 3rd leading cause of death annually in the United States of America, according the the Starfield Report published in the Journal of the American Medical Association in the year 2000. Well over 2 million Americans have perished since that peer-reviewed article was published a decade ago.

Obama and the Democrats want to institutionalize that as a solution for the so-called health care crisis? Need I actually write who or what really needs to be institutionalized? Message to both Democrats and Republicans:

Power corrupts. Corporatism corrupts absolutely.

You want healing available to all? Freedom from choice is not the answer.
Liberty is not found in a pill bottle unless you are in favor of monopoly insurance mandates for the industry responsible for being the 3rd leading cause of death every year. Your government is on drugs and the drug stocks they are desperately trying to keep propped up by force. This is not compassion, this is lunacy.

Stop being a Coppertop before you are bled dry with FDA-approved leeches.

Try freedom, before it is lost to atrophy from lack of use. If not for you, then do it for your kids.

White-washing Crestor Statin Drugs; Safer Links for Cardiovascular Concerns

Headline: Study: Wider cholesterol drug use may save lives "This takes prevention to a whole new level, because it applies to patients who we now wouldn't have any evidence to treat," said Dr. W. Douglas Weaver, a Detroit cardiologist and president of the American College of Cardiology. If I did not laugh I would cry. The cholesterol mythology matters not, they just want to make Crestor an essential nutrient. On what basis do they do this?

"People with low cholesterol and no big risk for heart disease dramatically lowered their chances of dying or having a heart attack if they took the cholesterol pill Crestor, a large study found."

OK, let's set aside for a moment the fact that cholesterol does not cause heart disease and figure out just what the "PILL" they are trying to claim here.

• No risk for heart attack? Check.
  
• Low cholesterol? Check.
  

So they took Crestor and still didn't die nor have a heart attack, which they were not likely to get anyway. Did the FDA approve Crestor as a new placebo against diseases that you are not likely to develop?

• Did they ignore that statins are liver toxic? Check.
  
• Did they ignore that statin drugs deplete cellular Co-Q10? Check.
  
• Did they ignore that cholesterol is a vital part of the brain and nervous system? Check.
  
• Did they ignore that cholesterol is a vital precursor for proper hormone production? Check.
  

Who, exactly, is the FDA protecting again?

"...half of all heart attacks occur in people with normal or low cholesterol, so doctors have been testing other ways to predict who is at risk."

What does this say about the high-cholesterol causation-hypothesis of heart disease? If fully half of all heart attack victims do not have elevated cholesterol levels, why do doctors want to lower those levels in EVERYBODY? This is about selling drugs, not health nor genuine prevention.

"The study was supposed to last five years but was stopped in March, after about two years, when independent monitors saw that those taking Crestor were faring better than the others."

Hmmm. It is convenient that they stopped the study prior to a preponderance of negative side-effects associated with prolonged reliance on statin drugs. I wrote earlier about the "forgetfulness" of those who are stalwart defenders of "statins as panacea." One of the most significant consequences of global stain use will be collective amnesia in the form of an Alzheimer's epidemic this world has never seen.

By irresponsibly reducing cholesterol in millions of people worldwide, they are robbing an essential "fat" from the brain and nervous system that is critical for cellular communication. Welcome to planet...er, what planet is this?

The reason that anyone can claim an improvement in health from the use of Crestor (or any in the statin category) is because of its anti-inflammatory effect. However, this benefit is short-lived as its negative impact on the body is soon revealed via liver/kidney toxicity and rhabdomyolysis (muscle wasting). The Alzheimer's? Forget about it, they already have.

"Diabetes and Heart Ailments – Weight or Wait Problem?" by Christopher C. Barr

The much ballyhooed connection of overweight and even obesity issues to illnesses such as heart disease and diabetes have been brought into question by two studies in this week’s Archives of Internal Medicine.

More than half overweight and nearly a third of obese adults in a national health/nutrition survey had healthful figures for such risk markers as cholesterol including the so-called “good” high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol, triglycerides, blood pressure, and blood sugar, as well as insulin sensitivities.

By contrast, almost one quarter of those recognized as having normal weights had unhealthful figures for the same risk markers.

“A considerable proportion of overweight and obese U.S. adults are metabolically healthy, whereas a considerable proportion of normal-weight adults express a clustering of cardiometabolic abnormalities,” wrote Judith Wylie-Rosett, Rachel Wildman and colleagues in their published report.

Wylie-Rosett of Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York oversaw one study and according to Reuters News said in a telephone interview, “We really don’t know as much about obesity as we think we do.”

No kidding.

“Her team did not look at people’s diets,” stated the Reuters News report.

To ignore (the root of the word ‘ignorance’) “people’s diets” is to miss the most important part of the equation.

Size doesn’t matter

The often rotund peoples on traditional Mediterranean diets such as in Greece and Italy have been well documented for less coronary artery disease than skinnier western counterparts in studies dating back more than half a century.

These studies are neither small nor obscure. The Framingham studies were large and long-term through four decades and well renowned.

The primary healthful differences came down to the type of oil – olive oil – and whole grains.

Much has been made of the olive oil.

That’s great.

Not so much has been made of the whole grains.

That’s too bad.

Simple breakdown

The biggest difference between whole grains and refined grains are three minerals that just happen to figure prominently in all of the observed markers and characteristics of the recent study.

The minerals silicon, selenium and chromium are abundant in whole grains and almost entirely absent in refined grains.

Chromium nourishes and strengthens muscle (like the heart) as well as offering some level of protection of the tissues. Chromium also manages cholesterol. Abundant chromium levels result in an abundance of the “good” HDL cholesterol. Low chromium levels result in low HDL and high “bad” LDL (low density lipoprotein) cholesterol.

Selenium provides protection of heart tissues from free radical damage, and assists with heart energy levels by way of production of Coenzyme Q10. Selenium also assists chromium with cholesterol management.

Silicon (or silica) is responsible for both strength and elasticity of arteries and other tissues.

One more study

The other study noted that the liver may be the key.

Unseen fatty accumulations in the liver were noted as a more accurate indicator of heart risk than easily seen fat.

Both selenium and chromium were established as nutrients essential for life 50 years ago in liver studies.

Coincidence?

A wait problem … not a weight problem

Almost 100 years ago the minerals chromium, selenium and silicon began to be routinely removed more than 90 per cent from whole grains by refining and bleaching processes. This was ruled a violation of the Pure Food & Drug Act by the U.S. Supreme Court in 1915 yet the practice continued – and continues today.

It is the wait for government to enforce the law and for food providers to follow the law that is the key to heart health – and diabetes as well (chromium was specifically cited as essential for blood sugar metabolism by the National Institutes of Health 50 years ago).

The people await the all too serious wait problem of the government and food providers to be addressed as a far more weighty issue than the weight of the people.
